Company denies drug to dying child

Company denies drug to dying child

Josh Hardy is currently in critical condition.

In the article I read, it talks about how a family's boy is dying and is need of help. The only thing they have been able to find is an experimental drug, which is a drug that they are still studying and the FDA have not approved of yet. But this company which is a pharmaceutical companies and they often say no. They did say no to Josh when his parents asked for help. The family then turned to social media such as: Facebook and Twitter. People have been joining together and fighting for Josh to get the drug. Some people are taking it a little far by posting the e-mail addresses of the company's board members. By this, people are sending threats to them demanding for them to help out Josh. The company says they won't help Josh because it will slow down their process of finding the exact way to produce the drug. "The company would have to dish out $50,000 per compassionate-use patient, since insurance doesn't usually pay for experimental drugs," Moch said.

I think I can understand both parts of the fight. If Josh was my child I would fight my heart out to save his life. He is my own child and I would spend anything on him to keep him alive. But, also for the company's point of view I would try and stay focused on finishing the drug. Saving one kid is great, but having the ability to possible save thousands upon thousands would be so much better. I would feel really bad for not helping the kid out, but would still try to keep my eyes on the final goal.

This event does not really affect me. I don't know anyone that has ever been in this position. I don't even think I could be able to survive if I knew there was something out there that could help, but they wouldn't do anything. I would end up being the person sending threats to the company to help. Just saying...

OMG! Your teen actually talks to you?

Parents Just Don't Understand

Parents just don't understand their kids sometimes. They won't us to tell them our problems, but then we get yelled at for some thing's we did in the problem. Although there are some parents out there who have figured out how to get their kids to tell them anything. They can talk about any subject with their kids and help them out with it. Another thing they might have to do is "put duck tape over your mouth." Meaning that sometimes your kids will tell you stuff you don't want to hear but you still have to help them anyways. They might have to hold their tongue at times, but it helps their kids in the long run. One mom said, "If your teen thinks, I already know what my mom will say about this, so I'm not even going to talk to her," you can forget about your kids opening up to you.

I feel like it's great parents are finding ways to get their kids to be more open with them. I know I have had problems in my life but never wanted to go ask for help because of stuff I did that I knew I would get in trouble for. I think if my parents where more like these parents I could feel like I trust them more and could be more open with them. The only problem is, I know it won't happen.

What is the impact of using quotes?
The impact of using quotes is showing the actually words coming from the sources mouth. It shows you the "front line" instead me just telling you what I think all of this means. Using quotes help give more information about the topic and more detail.
